is holding auditions for
bare: a pop opera!
A group of high school seniors at a Catholic boarding school faces issues of sexuality and personal identity. As they struggle to come to terms with who they are, and who the world thinks they should be, they seek answers from their Church, their friends, and ultimately, from within themselves. Its rich, vibrant score draws on many styles of contemporary music.
Radical Arts is excited to announce auditions for bare:a pop opera. All auditions, rehearsals, and performances will take place at Music Valley Event Center, located at: 2416 Music Valley Dr #150, Nashville, TN 37214
Auditions are March 11th and 12th, and begin at 6:30pm. Callbacks will be held after auditions on March 12 if needed.
Show dates are set for June 8-10, 15-17, and 22-24.
High School students, college students, and adults are all encouraged to audition. If you are under 18, please have a legal guardian accompany you to auditions to sign the audition form. This show contains vulgar language and sexual encounters. See character descriptions.
Those auditioning only need to attend one of the audition dates (as well as be available for callbacks on the 12th), and should bring a prepared song in the style of the show, 16-32 bars, with sheet music. An accompanist will be provided, but will not transpose. Tracks are also acceptable provided they do not have any type of vocals on them. Please no acapella auditions. Be prepared for a movement portion of the audition, so either bring or come in comfortable clothing to move in. There will also be a cold reading of parts of the script. Since this is an opera, you may be asked to read lyrics as if it’s dialogue.
If you would like to audition, but cannot make the audition dates, you may submit a video audition. Video auditions should consist of 16-32 bars of music, a short monologue, and sent to the following email address: firstname.lastname@example.org. Video Submissions will not be taken after March 12 at 8pm.
